Einat Heyd-Metzuyanim’s lab focuses on teaching and learning processes in mathematics, with an emphasis on discourse, identity and affect.
Our goal is to understand better what is involved in getting students to engage deeply with mathematics and develop positive mathematical identities.
A large part of our work focuses on studying efforts for enhancing explorative mathematics instruction in various settings including elementary schools, secondary schools and college-level mathematics. In addition, we carry out studies on students’ dialogical identities, teachers’ identity, mathematical identities of students of various ethnic groups (Arab, Haredi), and gifted students’ identity.
