Informal science education in the bigger picture of science in cultural contexts

Social controversies regarding scientific and technological topics provide challenges for progress. Prof. Gerber will argue that upstream communication with diverse stakeholders can turn innovation into a driver for social change, community mobilisation, and possibly even a democratisation of knowledge. He will show how this vision has already gained a foothold in European science and innovation policy and discuss its educational implications.
